Description:
Standards are near solid rose wash over gold ground. Falls have gold ground veining
and heavily washed with darker rose. Stylearms are gold with darker rose streaking. Yellow beards.
Autumn Shower has a unique plicata pattern for cool season reblooming tall bearded
iris. This rebloomer (Lockatell TB Re Sdlg.#20526) features the best flowering characteristics
from the late Dr. Lloyd Zurbrigg and Joe Ghio breeding lines. (TB Northward Ho (Zurbrigg,
1991) X TB Re Double Vision (Ghio, 1999) Double Vision contributed modern flower form
and color patterning and Northward Ho chipped in with reliable cool season rebloom.
Autumn Shower is a solid grower and nice companion to yellow and red cool season tall
bearded rebloomers in the fall garden. After successful trials in Maryland and Pennyslvania,
the decision was made to register and release this eye catching beauty.
Flowers are unaffected by lower bloomstalk height for the tall bearded claasfication. Garden
presence however has always been Autumn Shower's best quality. If you are a plicata fan,
here is a nice coloring to see twice in the same growing season.
